No Halo For Hedy by Carter Brown

No Halo For Hedy

If one  is a keen golfer, one will understand there's nothing more irritating than finding something interfering with the lie of one's golf balls on the green. Whoever left the corpse there was no golfer. The real trouble started when Clinton Rudd figured that, as Russ Burton wrote mystery stories, he would solve the murder faster than the cops. So Russ investigated the corpse and found it had been quite a guy. By comparison,  a skunk is a gentleman. There were plenty of suspects, plenty of action, almost like the stories Russ wrote for a living. There were so many people with good reason to kill him, one couldn't have blamed them if they had formed a co-operative to do the job. Then Russ meets the girl of his dreams, Hedy! She was wonderful and he loved her. There's only one thing really worrying him now. Will she be any different after they've sat her in the death chair?
