No Halo For Hedy by Carter Brown

No Halo For Hedy

If one  is a keen golfer, one will understand there's nothing more irritating than finding something interfering with the lie of one's golf balls on the green. Whoever left the corpse there was no golfer. The real trouble started when Clinton Rudd figured that, as Russ Burton wrote mystery stories, he would solve the murder faster than the cops. So Russ investigated the corpse and found it had been quite a guy. By comparison,  a skunk is a gentleman. There were plenty of suspects, plenty of action, almost like the stories Russ wrote for a living. There were so many people with good reason to kill him, one couldn't have blamed them if they had formed a co-operative to do the job. Then Russ meets the girl of his dreams, Hedy! She was wonderful and he loved her. There's only one thing really worrying him now. Will she be any different after they've sat her in the death chair?

Crime Fiction Alphabet 2013: The Letter Q

The Crime Fiction Alphabet keeps rolling along. We are currently in week 17 with the letter Q. Kerrie over at her blog Mysteries in Paradise is kind enough to host this community meme. The rules a quite simple. By Friday of each week participants write a blog post about crime fiction related to the letter of the week. The post must be related to either the first letter of a book's title, the first letter of an author's first name, or the first letter of the author's surname, or even maybe a crime fiction "topic". But above all, it has to be crime fiction. This time around I will be featuring a Carter Brown title for each letter of the alphabet.

Carter Brown: Q is for

Wait there is no Carter Brown title starting with the Letter Q

So the next best thing, similar author and a real title starting with the Letter Q.

Nick Carter: Q is for The Q-Man

A technical genius plots to devastate the U.S continent!
George Gross Cover
   Earthquake!
When Nick Carter flew over San Diego all he could see was a dense cloud of brick dust. The city was virtually gone. Next stop was Los Angeles, as the quake worked its way up the fault line. And the devastation was man-made! The only suspects both deny that the quakes could be technologically induced. But AXE records prove that either one had the skill and the equipment to be the Q-Man. Nick has to find out who it is before the continent is utterly destroyed!

The Big Bankroll by Glen Chase

Cherry didn't mind a little kinkiness
Until it led to killing.

Kinky
Cherry Delight, star agent of N.Y.M.P.H.O. (New York Mafia Harassment Organization) was on her way to a date when a mugger made the mistake of attacking her. After she had slammed him to the pavement with her advanced judo, and was on the way to tidy up, a car of Mafia hoods careened down the street and filled the mugger with lead. Cherry was annoyed. When, a day later, four Mafia hoods tried the same stunt on her she became downright mad, and decided to get to the bottom  of things. She almost uncovered more than she could handle, what with a power crazed Mafia boss, and underworld think tank, and some Mafia buttons with very kinky sexual tastes....
